Herbalist here! Kinda wonder if the plants, trees, and mycelial network are the ‘tricksters’ in all of this; it’s not a new idea at all, cool classes with Matt Wood and Sean O’Donohue about this. Maybe the plants and trees and fungi are working in their slow and wise ways to get rid of us? Tricksters can go any which way- the plants have offered endless support (plantcestors, some call them) since forever, but they are incredibly manipulative too. The mycelial network (the wood wide web) being the inspo for the World Wide Web…fun bunny hole to go down with the help of experienced teachers, anyway. Ps- some of these “magic” alkaloids they’re extracting, refining and what, wanting to mass produce? Extract best from whole plants in vinegar (and/or alcohol) with some teaching plants being in our backyards-ish (like eastern skunk cabbage when combined with some others.) And the bitter and acrid taste of these substances is an important part, the beginning/foundation, of their healing work, not tasting them is a mistake (along with all the other bypassing that just doesn’t work with these plants/beings)

Edit: bitter and acrid tastes, plural, they are different. The gagging and nausea accompanying the tasting of these plants/fungi is an important part of preparing to receive their actual guidance and insights.

this article, read before coffee, kinda jumps around too much for me to really get into, in spite of the great interest i have in this subject. to really get into this we have to develop a new vocabulary because otherwise we are trapped in linguistic cul de sacs. for example, "right" and "left" are vague terms. MAPS, to take just one example is the clearest example of a right wing authoritarian strategy to deploy psychedelics in the service of the military industrial (fascist) cabal. this word, "conspirituality," (like the weaponized "conspiracy theory") is just pure bullshit. If you are not performing an intelligent analysis of the conspiracies, you are never going to understand psychedelic drug policy, or politics, or history. because in fact psychedelic drugs were deployed, secretly, throughout US and British society in the first wave as weapons by CIA-linked individuals and institutions. Ohler does not go far enough in his analysis but there are leads to follow. It was always a right wing plot, until Leary put his anti war, anti authoritarian spin on them. i applaud your effort but to me it seems you don't really understand the history of psychedelics as well as you could.... you might start with the important and not so popular, ACID HYPE, by media analyst Stephen Siff. Also, John Potash's important book, (and film) Drugs as Weapons Against Us. Or any of my recent podcasts... The current renaissance is complex, it is mostly a reactivation of the brave new world project with many other sub movements that have a more progressive and truly american intention and effects...

Strange how we refer to past, present, and future as our referents. The Kin-dom of Heaven has always been here, is here now, and always will be here. We enter into it in each and every infinitesimally tiny instant, and we dwell there forever.

We are here for such a very short time - or eternity. Take your pick.

We are here to love. Nothing more. Nothing less. Only love.

Oh the wheels, the wheels. The wheels of progress slowly turning, turning to potentially move us forward and through. It's a beautiful thought but my monkey brain keeps reminding me that perhaps the wheels are about to fall off and my spidey sense tells me that the only way through is if and when the wheels fall off. Perhaps we will all collectively fall to our knees and use the trauma of the event to rebuild into the generations of the future learning from the imperfections of the hedonistic generations that we are in this very mome🤫🫣🤔
