I read a ton for research so you don’t have to. I tend to take an academic perspective (grad work in historical anthropology) but explain complex topics with pop cultural riffs and references.
So you’ll feel smarter, and have a never-ending stream of cocktail party banter.
I do my best to anticipate future trends, and name them early, so you can keep tabs on what’s coming up around the bend. From religion, to digital life, to AI to ecology.
I unpack our current polycrisis with a bit of gallows humor, so you can rest assured you haven’t gone crazy, when in point of fact, the world has.
I take a stand for Team Human, even as I take the piss out of many of the tribes on the field these days.
Stay up-to-date
You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox.
Which is super important, in case, you know, some days you wake up to an empty inbox and you’d do anything for at least one email to open to validate your existence and give you something to read over your morning coffee.
Think of this substack as your lifeline to morning meaning, and caffeinated procrastination.
It will always be free to read and share. I hate paywalled content, and bet you do too.
Join the crew
If you read and enjoy more than a couple of these posts, and it speaks to your mind or heart in a way other stuff doesn’t…
Join a worldwide community of Home Grown Humans-dedicated to showing up on behalf of something bigger than themselves.
We “meet” on an online learning platform. Host monthly calls and book clubs. Share a dynamic (and ruthlessly moderated) forum.
And get together for kickass trainings in the wild places of the world (our prior life was as mountain guides, wilderness medics and leadership trainers).
But more than anything, the HomeGrown Humans community is a safe space to have unsafe conversations. With a bit of history and a pinch of humor.
No sacred cows, life coaches or galaxy brains allowed inside the perimeter.
(And if there’s any wonkiness if you want to sign up there for the whole experience, vs. here just to support the newsletter, just ping us at hello@flowgenomeproject.com and we’ll get you sorted)
Thanks for reading,
