David Deida's New Book

Hi good people!

Wanted to invite you to a private fireside chat with me and David Deida next Tuesday at 3pm EST/Noon PST. (We’ll be doing that in place of an essay this week). And if you’re reading this here, considef yourself invited.

It’s focused on his long awaited sequel to the millions of copies global phenom that was Way of the Superior Man.

If you missed the Substack last week I wrote, here was my gentle piss-take that shows up in the print edition as the Introduction. If it makes you laugh or a little curious, then you’d probably enjoy the live convo.

David’s a bit of a cypress swamp monk at this point, so he’s not doing the normal dog and pony book launch. But we do have an ongoing irreverent, sacrilegious, occasionally nihilistic text thread that spans the last half-decade.

So figured inviting a few of you lot into that chat would be a fun way to mark the launch of his new book Man of Zero.

Gonna divide the session into roughly three parts:

Part One: WTF happened to the Instagram Shaman Men’s and Women’s Movements that sprang up in the aftermath of his last book??? What, if anything, he’d have done differently, and what cautions and advice he might offer to those who got led astray by the Big Dumb Hat crowd. If you’re a lover or a hater of this scene (or a guilty participant) this alone will be worth it.

Part Two: What is this new Man of Zero about, why did he write it now, and how does it compare with the most current Looksmaxxing, Peptide injecting, toxic manbro glorifying moment we’re currently in. If you’re confused and freaked by Andrew Tate and the Inside the Manosphere doc, this should be a really interesting exploration to see the state of dudeness in our current whacked moment.

Part Three: Q&A with you all. (this was the part David wanted to spend most time on) Anything we didn’t cover, any burning questions, cries of indignation, or fine grained parsing of the texts, subtexts and hypertexts that have surrounded David’s work all these years. You get to jump in and stake your claim.

There’s no tickets, and we’re not gonna scan for book receipts or hustle you with bulk upsells.

Instead we’ll just operate on the honor system--if you’re curious before the call or after, grab a copy here for yourself or a loved one. (as I grabbed the link it’s #1 in Mens and Gender Studies already).

So that’s the jam. We have a cap on number of attendees and we’re sharing this with a few friends’ communities too, so first come/seated.

If you get bounced, don’t stress it. We will share the recording afterwards too. But if you want to ask the Man with No Plan about the Man of Zero, hop on early to grab a spot.
